The Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding the Night Prayer

"The best prayer after the obligatory prayer is the night prayer."

Sahih Muslim, 1163

"The honour of the believer lies in his night prayer, and his dignity lies in not needing anything from people."

al-Hakim, authenticated

"You should perform the night prayer, for it is the practice of the righteous who came before you, it brings you closer to your Lord, expiates bad deeds, and prevents from sinning."

Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 3549 (Hasan)

"O people, spread the greeting of peace, give food, maintain family ties, and pray at night while people are asleep — you will enter Paradise in peace."

Sunan Ibn Majah, 1334 · al-Tirmidhi, 2485 (Sahih)

"Whoever fears sets out at nightfall, and whoever sets out at nightfall reaches the destination. Indeed, the merchandise of Allah is precious. Indeed, the merchandise of Allah is Paradise."

Sunan al-Tirmidhi, 2450 (Hasan — Ibn Baz)

About

Why night prayer first?

Wirdi started as an Excel spreadsheet in 2014 to track the five daily prayers. The idea evolved through Airtable experiments and years of refinement. When development began in earnest, a key insight emerged: the voluntary night prayer is where consistency is the hardest — and where a tracking tool adds the most value.

Unlike the five daily prayers that must be completed in all situations, Qiyam al-Layl is a non-compulsory challenge — maintaining motivation for it year-round is the real test for those who seek closeness to their Creator. Wirdi exists to help you guard and monitor that closeness.
